During McKay-Cocker’s 65 years of business, civil work has been a relevant part of our construction volume, which encompasses parking structures, water treatment/sewage plants, complex process equipment, pits, foundations and many bridge projects.

From the ‘60s, through the ‘90s, bridge structures were an integral part of our construction portfolio, completing hundreds of bridges from Ottawa to Windsor for all levels of government. The majority of overpasses in London, including Highbury Avenue, Quebec Street, and Adelaide Street, were built by our firm.  The Guy Lombardo Bridge, Adelaide Street North Bridge, Queen’s Avenue extension and the Horton Street extension were also McKay-Cocker projects.  Forty-two structures on Highway 402 and fourteen structures on Highway 403, including the 403/ 401 interchange at Woodstock, were built by McKay-Cocker.  Most recently, the City of London awarded McKay-Cocker the Hale Street/Trafalgar Street CN Overpass contract which will have a major impact on expediting traffic flow in this busy area.

McKay-Cocker’s diversified civil experience also includes the completion of over 50 sewage/water treatment plants and pumping station projects throughout Ontario.  Most recently, we were awarded the $45 million, Southeast Pumping Station and Reservoir, by the City of London, and have just wrapped up the Ridgetown Waste Water Treatment Plant for the Municipality of Chatham-Kent.

We self-perform all of our own concrete forming and placing to ensure adherence to fast-tracked schedules and the high level of quality that both we and our clients demand.

A large percentage of our yearly volume involves the design and construction of complicated pits and foundations to accommodate elaborate process systems and equipment, in both new and existing building facilities.  Our attention to accuracy and detail on such work results in regular repeat business with satisfied clients.
