Paul Cocker Celebrated

Paul Cocker with Award

Congratulations to Paul H. Cocker for his induction to the London & District Business Hall of Fame. The celebration gala took place at the London Convention Centre on Thursday, October 25th.

A Ryerson University graduate, where he studied structural engineering, Paul never looked back after starting a career in construction services in 1970. He has been with the London based company McKay-Cocker, founded in 1946 by Col. Hugh McKay and Paul’s father Herb Cocker, ever since.  He became Construction Manager in 1970 and Vice President Sales and Estimating in 1977. In 1991, he became Chairman of the Company. Today, Paul’s role is Chief Executive Officer.

With Paul at the helm, McKay-Cocker has grown over the decades to become a preeminent construction services firm in Ontario. The company’s commitment to Southern Ontario is facilitated by offices in London and Mississauga. Recent developments include McKay-Cocker’s sale to Fayolle Canada in September 2010 and the appointment of a new president.

During his speech Paul spoke fondly of London, where his father co-founded McKay-Cocker, the firm that’s been his passion. He is active in the community, serving as a director of London Hydro, a technical adviser to Fanshawe College and a supporter of Habitat for Humanity. He was joined by family and friends, whose support Paul credits for his success.

London Business Hall of Fame honours outstanding past and present members of London's business community and is operated by Junior Achievement. Paul and McKay-Cocker also congratulate fellow inductee Carol Stephenson, Dean of the Ivey School of Business.
